Top 10 Frankfurt Instagram Spots You Can’t Miss!

Observation deck in Main Tower is one of the best photo spots in Frankfurt.

Wondering where to take those stunning, instagrammable photos in Frankfurt? Great question, and this article has all the answers! Frankfurt is one of those German cities that can be very picture-worthy. Don’t let its business-like reputation fool you! With a mix of sleek skyscrapers, half-timbered houses, and lush green spaces, the city offers a wide variety of photo opportunities. After a year living in the city, I’ve discovered some of the best Frankfurt Instagram Spots that aren’t just tall buildings and business offices.

Top Frankfurt Instagram Spots

1. Iron bridge (Eiserner Steg)

The Iron Bridge is honestly one of the easiest and most photogenic spots in Frankfurt. The skyline behind you, the river under you, and all the love locks — it just works every single time.

It’s also super close to Römer, so if you’re exploring the city quickly or doing only one day in Frankfurt, this bridge should definitely be on your route. It’s such a simple stop, but the photos always look like you planned a whole photoshoot.

You’ll get boats, skyscrapers, and even Frankfurt Cathedral in the distance. And if the sky is blue? Even better. It’s one of those places where you can take one photo and go — perfect if you don’t want to overthink angles and lighting.

2. Main Tower

Main Tower is one of the classic Instagrammable places in Frankfurt, especially for those who love skyline views. Primarily an office tower and the bank headquarters, this 240-meter-tall building is primarily known for its observation deck.

If you’re looking for a spectacular 360 ° view of the city and its surroundings, there’s no better place to go! For only 9 euros, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of all Frankfurt’s landmarks, and you may even catch a glimpse of Frankfurt Airport. Just one floor down, you’ll find a high-end restaurant and lounge where you can dine “up in the sky” while capturing incredible photos!

Pro tip: Try to visit on a nice day, as it can be quite windy up there! Buy your tickets for evening hours (preferably sunset) – it’s super pretty!

3. Galleria Restaurant

Galleria’s rooftop restaurant is one of those spots people walk past a hundred times without realizing there’s an insane skyline view hiding on the 7th floor. If you’re wandering around Zeil and want a quick “wow” moment without climbing a tower or paying an entrance fee, this is where you go.

You get a close-up look of Frankfurt skyline – with Hauptwache and St. Katharinen Church in the foreground. Even if you’re not planning to eat, you can still pop up for a few photos from the balcony because the view is honestly that good.

And if you are in the mood for a cute break afterwards, the area around Zeil has some really aesthetic cafés where you can recharge (and take more photos). I included a few of my favorites in my Frankfurt Cafés Guide — perfect if you want a drink that looks as good as your skyline shots.

4. Goethe Square (Goetheplatz)

Goetheplatz is one of the Frankfurt Instagram spots you’ll walk through anyway if you’re anywhere near Zeil or Hauptwache. It’s literally in the middle of everything, so if you’re short on time or on a Frankfurt layover, this is a quick win.

You’ve got the Goethe statue, pretty boutiques, and the skyline peeking in the background — all in one frame. It’s the definition of a low-effort, cute photo stop. You don’t need to pose much or wait for “the perfect light.” Just stop, snap, keep going.

5. Frankfurt’s Cathedral Tower (Kaiserdom)

If you still haven’t had your wow moment with the Frankfurt skyline, head to Frankfurt’s Cathedral (Kaiserdom). This Gothic beauty is impressive from every angle, but the real magic is at the top. Inside the tower, there’s a narrow staircase (324 steps — yes, I counted), and once you climb up, you’re rewarded with one of the best skyline views in Frankfurt.

From the rooftop, you’ll see the Old Town rooftops, the skyscrapers, and the Main River all lined up in one perfect frame. It’s honestly one of the top Frankfurt photo spots if you love dramatic city views.

Note: The rooftop entrance costs €3, and you can buy the ticket at the small booth, right from the main entrance.

6. Römerberg Square

Römerberg is one of the most charming places for photos in Frankfurt, and you truly can’t take a bad picture here. With its colorful half-timbered houses and fairy-tale vibe, it feels like you stepped straight into a storybook. The historic Römer building (Frankfurt’s city hall for over 600 years!) gives the whole square that perfect old-town charm.

If you’re visiting in winter, the Christmas Market transforms Römerberg into pure magic — twinkling lights, wooden stalls, mulled wine, the whole cozy dream. It’s one of the best Instagram spots in Frankfurt during the holidays.

7. Taunusanlage

Taunusanlage is, I believe, one of the most underrated photo spots in central Frankfurt. This lovely green oasis right in the middle of Frankfurt’s financial district is such a powerful contrast to the busy steel-and-glass skyline! The park is dotted with charming sculptures and statues that stand against the towering buildings, making it a cool photo spot.

In spring and autumn, the colorful foliage brightens up the scene, while in winter, the bare branches give off a minimal, moody aesthetic. It’s also a laid-back place to catch locals strolling, jogging, or relaxing, which adds a lovely human touch to your pictures.

8. Bockenheimer Warte U-Bahn Entrance

If you want something quirky and totally different from the usual Frankfurt Instagram spots, head to Bockenheimer Warte. The U-Bahn entrance here looks like a subway train crashed straight into the pavement — and no, it’s not an accident. It was designed this way on purpose!

It’s fun, unexpected, and makes for a unique shot that always surprises people. With the Messeturm (“the pencil tower”) in the background, you get this cool mix of surreal art + Frankfurt architecture. Great spot if you’re trying to add something more playful to your gallery.

9. Goethe Tower

If you want a photo of the city that feels a bit more local and less touristy, the Goethe Tower is such a hidden gem. Located in the Stadtwald, this wooden tower gives you a gorgeous panoramic view — skyscrapers and forest in one frame.

Not many visitors know about it, which is exactly why it deserves a spot on your list of the best Instagram spots in Frankfurt. The climb is 196 steps, but trust me, the view from the top is worth every one. The tower is open from early April until the end of October (roughly 08:00–20:00), and it’s closed in winter.

10. Main Riverbank (Museumsufer)

The Main Riverbank, especially the Museumsufer stretch, is one of the classic Frankfurt photography spots. You get everything in one place — reflections on the water, pretty bridges, boats passing by, and the skyline in the background.

On sunny weekends, the riverbank comes alive with joggers, couples walking their dogs, musicians, and food stalls. It’s such a relaxed vibe and amazing for candid or lifestyle-style shots. Whether you want a calm riverside photo or a skyline picture at sunset, this spot works for all of it.

Quick Tips for Frankfurt Photos

To make yourself proud of your Frankfurt shots, keep these simple but effective tips in mind:

  • Go early or late: Mornings are great for quiet streets and fewer people. Golden hour offers that warm, dreamy light perfect for any shot.
  • Pack light: All of Frankfurt’s top photo spots are walkable, so the less you carry, the more flexible (and comfortable) you’ll be.
  • Try different angles: Step to the side, crouch down, or shoot from behind a frame—some of the best photos come from unexpected perspectives.
  • Take your time: Don’t rush. Slow down, take in the city’s vibe, and let the scene speak to you.
  • Don’t mind the German stare: Locals might give you curious looks—just smile and keep clicking.
  • Respect the location: Some spots, especially churches or museums, may have photo restrictions. Check for signs or just ask the staff.
  • Stay curious: Sometimes the best photos are in the in-between moments. Be open, explore less popular neighbourhoods, and let your creativity guide you.
