Alte Oper is surely a must-see spot in Frankfurt, but the green area around it is also worth stopping by.

The Taunusanlage is a scenic stretch from the Taunustor to the Alte Oper with hilly meadows, monuments, statues, and art pieces. Bockenheimer Anlage, behind the Opera building, is a smaller park that hides a beautiful pond with many benches to sit and enjoy the surroundings. 3. Galeria Kaufhof Rooftop Terrace

The Galeria Rooftop Lounge is one of my recently discovered Frankfurt hidden gems! Located in Zeil, it is such a thrill to find out that this not-so-big shopping mall has a rooftop terrace with a fantastic view. The Terrace is a lovely spot for snapping photos, grabbing an inexpensive meal, or just taking a moment to relax above the busy shopping street. While lots of people head to the Main Tower for a view, this terrace gives you an equally breathtaking perspective—and it is completely free! The vibe here is nice and reminds me a bit of the Galeries Lafayette in Paris. It’s a perfect place to relax, sip on a drink, and soak in the mix of modern and historic architecture that makes Frankfurt unique.

4. Günthersburg Park

If you’re looking for a place with a local vibe, check out Günthersburgpark in Bornheim! This charming park is a great spot for family activities, those enjoying sport, or maybe just for a stroll. With its beautiful gardens, well-kept playgrounds, and a water fountain, it’s a perfect spot to relax or enjoy some outdoor fun. Unlike the busier Palmengarten, it has a more laid-back feel, making it great for a leisurely day out. If you are traveling to Frankfurt in summer, you’ll find people barbecuing, open yoga sessions, and those soaking up the sun.

How to get to Günthersburg Park?

It’s super easy – the park is just a short ride from the city center. If you are starting from Zeil, just hop on the U4 subway toward Bornheim and get off at Bornheim Mitte. From there, you have to walk 10 minutes and you will have reached your destination!

5. Berger Street (Berger Straße)

Also located in Bornheim, Berger Strasse is one of the must-visit Frankfurt Hidden Gems! This charming street is filled with small boutiques, cozy cafés, and lively restaurants, making it one of Frankfurt’s coolest areas. Unlike the more commercialized shopping streets, Berger Street kept its local charm. Wanna sip on a specialty coffee and eat homemade ‘baklava”? Go to Berger Strasse! Pro tip: While being there, don’t miss out on checking out the Bethmannpark and Chinese Garden, located on the south part of the street. It’s also one of the city’s popular attractions.

Hidden in the lovely Holzhausenpark, Holzhausen Palace from the 18th century brings a dreamy vibe to the area. 9. Liebighaus Skulpturensammlung Museum

If you love exploring museums, you absolutely can’t miss the Liebighaus Skulpturensammlung! This charming, smaller, and lesser-known museum is all about sculptures from various historical periods. The collection is indeed impressive, showcasing around 3,000 sculptures that span over 5,000 years of culture. Nestled in a lovely late 19th-century villa by the picturesque Main River, the museum offers an enriching experience different from the one you will get in Frankfurt’s larger museums.

Inside the museum’s garden, you’ll find a charming and cozy café. Order coffee and homemade cake or take a stroll through the small garden. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and appreciate art in a quiet setting!
